Are Your Products Legal?

Yes! Under the 2014  and the recently passed 2018 Farm Bill, CBD derived from Hemp, that has less than 0.3% THC by dry weight, is federally legal. Our products comply within these guidelines.  We also offer THC-Free Isolate CBD Oil for an alternative option.

What kind of testing/analysis is performed on your products?

All of our products are manufactured in a FDA registered cGMP compliant facility, are produced from 100% non-GMO Domestic Hemp, grown to organic standards and have been tested for contaminants such as pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals and mold.  Our industry leading 3rd party testing procedure is performed on every final product batch and is critical to confirm accuracy in potency information and to check for residual solvents, terpenes and cannabinoid content. Our Certificates of Analysis are available on our website.

Are your products sourced from hemp or hemp seed oil?

All of our products are made from organic, non-GMO, American cultivated hemp.  Although hemp seed oil is nutritious, it is devoid of Cannabidiol.  Our products have a robust Cannabidiol (CBD) profile due to our organically grown American hemp extract.

What extraction method is utilized?

We utilize super critical CO2 extraction for all of our hemp CBD Oil products. CO2 extraction is considered the cleanest extraction method resulting in a pure solvent free product.

Do you buy hemp from overseas?

NO! All of our hemp is sourced from American farmers practicing organic standards.

Will Safe Harbour Wellness's CBD Products make me high?

No – our full-spectrum hemp extract is made from organic industrial hemp which contains only legal trace amounts of THC (less than O.3%). These amounts are so small there is no psychoactive effect. We also offer THC-Free Isolate CBD Oil for an alternative option.

My career requires frequent drug screening as a condition of my employment. Will Safe Harbour Wellness's products cause me to fail a drug screen?

There is good literature written to this effect and we implore you to do your own due diligence.  With that said, all of Safe Harbour Wellness’s products meet the federal legal limit of < 0.3% THC and some are THC-FREE.

CBD is not a drug and although unlikely, consuming CBD may cause a positive drug test.  In order to err on the side of caution, if drug testing is a concern, we recommend utilizing one of our “Isolate” products as they are THC-FREE compared to the legal trace amounts found within our Full-Spectrum CBD Oil.  However, we cannot guarantee you will pass a drug test after consuming CBD products; even if they are labeled THC-FREE.

Drug tests look for elevated levels of THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis.  The drug test identifies if one’s THC level is above or below a particular threshold.  If THC is detected at amounts above the laboratory’s threshold, the test is considered positive.  In theory, one could use enough hemp extract and therefore consume enough THC to surpass the laboratory’s threshold and trigger a true positive, but it would be highly unlikely, difficult and very expensive.

Unfortunately, there is no “perfect dose” of CBD oil / hemp extract that one can consume to ensure THC levels remain below the THC threshold in a drug screen.  The manner in which an individual metabolizes THC is highly individualized and depends on many variables, including dose, body composition, activity level, duration of use, etc.

However, the most commonly used drug tests, urine and saliva immunoassay tests, are widely utilized, but are not very specific.  This means they can confuse one molecule for another, especially when they look alike.  This can happen with CBD and THC, which would trigger a FALSE positive.

Should you receive a positive result on a urine or saliva drug screen, ask for a more specific test to be performed.  This secondary test is called a confirmatory or confirmation test and can be performed with urine, saliva or blood and could also be requested as a hair test.  Confirmation tests are certainly more costly than a standard immunoassay test, but they are also much more accurate.  If using a THC-FREE  product, these should show as a true negative.  If you are using a full-spectrum product with small amounts of THC, these tests will either show as a true negative or a small level of THC. This quantification of THC will help differentiate between use of a hemp product vs use of a marijuana product.

As always, honesty and transparency with your employer and testing facility is your best defense.  Although we cannot make guarantees to outcomes, we would recommend bringing your product bottle and receipt with you to show you are taking a legal hemp derived product.

Are your products safe?

All our hemp crops are grown free of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. From the time our hemp oil is harvested, to the manufacturing and shipping of our products, we test our hemp oil multiple times to ensure accuracy in potency information and to check for contaminants like pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, mold and cannabinoid content.

We also use a super critical CO2 method of extraction for all of our CBD Oil Tinctures.  CO2 is a much healthier choice than other potential solvents and is “generally regarded as safe” (GRAS) by the FDA.

However, we recommend consulting with your healthcare provider prior to using our or anyone else’s products.

What ailments does CBD help with?

Currently, the FDA does not permit the use of anecdotal evidence to affirm that CBD can have beneficial effects on a variety of serious conditions and diseases. There are however, many studies exploring this topic.  We encourage you to do your own due diligence, research and consult your healthcare provider in order to make an informed decision prior to using any CBD containing products.  However, we have many happy customers who LOVE our products!
